Vaccine
Coriolis Pharma is at the forefront of vaccine development, providing services that create stable and effective liquid and lyophilized vaccine formulations for complex molecules.
We specialize in meeting stringent quality standards for several types of vaccines, including mRNA (more than 10 years of experience), viral vector, live-attenuated virus and subunit (including virus-like particles) vaccines.
Vaccine Services
No matter how unique your vaccine might be, Coriolis can draw from many years of experience working on several hundred vaccines and apply this expertise to benefit your development program.
Specialized Vaccine Services and Capabilities
Coriolis Pharma’s science-driven solutions are based on our deep understanding of the specific challenges of developing a vaccine. Our expert scientists will devise dedicated study designs tailored to the needs of your product and development phase.
Development of Adjuvanted Vaccines
Subunit vaccines often need an adjuvant to activate the innate immune system. Adjuvants are a heterogeneous group of molecules and particles (delivery systems), and their presence and interaction with antigens may hamper the vaccine’s characterization.
Our scientific experts are experienced in performing development studies for adjuvanted vaccines, focusing on quantifying adjuvant-bound and free vaccine, the adsorption capacity and the desorption profile.
Analytical Methods for Low-Concentration Samples
The concentration of antigen in vaccine drug products is typically in the microgram range, which is low compared to most therapeutic protein-based biologics. Also, the presence of adjuvants in many subunit vaccines may hamper analytical characterization.
Coriolis is highly experienced in developing analytical methods for low-concentrated and complex samples, such as adjuvanted vaccines. Our large portfolio of analytical techniques generates a comprehensive picture of your vaccine sample.

Vaccine FAQs
-
Vaccines are a diverse drug product category with one common goal: modulating the immune system to prevent infectious diseases, fight cancer or induce tolerance against allergens. They present highly specific antigens combined with stimuli for the innate immune system (adjuvants) to stimulate or inhibit (in the case of allergy vaccines) an immune response. In the best case, vaccines induce long-lasting effects without the need for frequent revaccination.
Vaccines have successfully prevented or reduced the severity of infectious diseases, including measles, polio and COVID-19, and have successfully eradicated smallpox. In a more experimental setting, cancer vaccination shows promise as a new tumor therapy.
-
Prophylactic vaccines aim to prevent or reduce the severity of infectious diseases and inhibit further spreading if sterilizing immunity is achieved. Since prophylactic vaccines are administered to healthy individuals, they are expected to fulfill high quality and safety standards. Therapeutic vaccines aim to treat patients with existing diseases, such as various types of cancer. This is an exciting field of research with the potential to address currently unmet medical needs. Also, therapeutic exposure to allergens is a form of vaccination to induce immune tolerance.
